The kitchen has long been labelled as the heart of the home, and in The Sims 4, where Sims eat, socialise, and occasionally die in their kitchens, this is no different. Cool Kitchen Stuff is the third Stuff Pack available for The Sims 4, providing a fresh bundle of kitchen-related objects and clothing items for your decorating and styling needs. This of course includes the best item yet to hit The Sims 4 – an ice-cream maker! Allow me to introduce you to the two guinea pigs I shall soon be stuffing with icy treats, I Scream and You Scream:
Above are some of the new Create-A-Sim options that come with Cool Kitchen Stuff, and as you may have noticed, in what may be a first for The Sims 4 – there are more male tops than female! There are 30 new Create-A-Sim items in total, including a super cute apron outfit available for both genders.
Over in Build Mode, there are 22 new objects to use in your kitchen and dining areas. Seen below are the two pre-constructed rooms available with the Pack, which, after some small modifications by yours truly, showcase all of the different items you’ll now be able to build with. What’s more, a week before the launch of Cool Kitchen Stuff, EA published a free update for The Sims 4 which introduced a Build Mode item that has been heavily requested by fans: dishwashers! Gotta love a freebie! It is worth noting however that although this is a Stuff Pack dedicated to kitchen items, there is only one new set of kitchen cupboards and benches. It does come in a variety of colours and finishes however, so you won’t feel too limited.
Of course, the item most desired and at the centre of this Stuff Pack is the Ice Cream Machine. With this machine, Sims can create cartons of ice cream in one of 30 different flavours. Once ice cream is crafted, it will automatically appear in your Sim’s inventory, where you can then place it anywhere on your lot. Once placed, you can choose from a wide variety of garnishes and toppings to finish off your delicious creation, and then devour said creation in either a cone or a bowl.
Depending on the flavour chosen, Sims will gain particular moodlets from certain ice creams – and if they’re brave enough create a tub of Dragon’s Breath or Plant Matter, your Sim may experience a range of completely normal side effects including brain freeze, fire-breathing, or turning green and sprouting leaves.
A cool point to note is that if you have the Get To Work expansion pack, you can sell cones or bowls of ice cream for profit in your own retail store. Better yet, if the Sim creating the ice cream has achieved the Master Chef aspiration, then their ice cream will never spoil. In real life, ice cream would never remain uneaten around me long enough for it to spoil, but I appreciate this feature in the game nonetheless.
If you’re interested in at least two of the three big aspects of this Stuff Pack (whether it be the new Create-A-Sim items, the new Build Mode objects, or the new Ice Cream Machine), or if you just really like ice cream, then Cool Kitchen Stuff is an easy purchase to justify.
